Market Development Associate
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager of Marketing, the Market Development Associate focuses on supporting PRPA’s understanding and development of end-to-end supply chains for all lines of business. Working with Business Intelligence and Operations, this position enhances PRPA’s understanding of competitiveness, performance, and market opportunities by sector. The position also aims to develop and improve understanding of end-to-end supply chains and their impact on the Port of Prince Rupert to drive business through the Port.
MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Continuously monitors and analyzes end-to-end supply chains across all lines of business and related commodities, assessing current and future trends. Identify key issues, emerging opportunities, and potential implications for the Port.
- Evaluate the Port’s competitiveness in the market by sector. Identify areas for improvement and implement tactics from the Marketing Plan in collaboration with the broader team to strengthen our overall competitiveness.
- Collaborates with the Business Intelligence team to map out key production areas, cargo flows by corridor, and market share for all lines of business and commodities (current and future). Develop a deeper understanding of challenges and growth opportunities for port terminals and cargoes.
- Supports internal projects and initiatives by conducting thorough market opportunity assessments. Collaborate with third-party experts to gain insights into market trends and potential areas for expansion.
- Works closely with Business Intelligence to inform the Port’s volume forecasting efforts. Provide valuable input for strategic planning, ensuring alignment with market dynamics and performance metrics. Assess how different commodities impact the Port’s operations, revenue, and overall competitiveness.
- Represents the Port at industry meetings, conferences, seminars, and functions: document proceedings, outcomes, and opportunities to keep management informed.
- Collaborates with Operations teams to understand gateway performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Assists a cross-functional team in providing data-driven insights to drive operational excellence.
- Distributes relevant market intelligence to internal stakeholders, ensuring that decision-makers have access to timely information on customer satisfaction, engagement levels, and experiences had by our customers.
- Performs other related duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Formal Education
- Post-secondary education in business administration or related.
- An undergraduate degree, preferably in Economics, Business Administration, or Commerce, is an asset.
Related Experience
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in industry. Experience in supply chain, logistics, or data management is considered an asset.

- Proficient in MS Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to obtain security clearance under Transport Canada’s Security Clearance Program.
- Possess valid Class 5 Drivers License.
The starting base salary range for this role is $74,091 – $92,614
