Changes to Our Board of Directors

Thursday, June 6, 2019

The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport for the Government of Canada, has announced the reappointment of Ken Clayton and appointment of Rita Andreone to the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Board of Directors for a term of three years commencing June 2, 2019.

Mr. Clayton has served on PRPA’s Board of Directors since 2014 and is Chair of the Major Projects Committee.

Ms. Andreone is a nationally-recognized business lawyer, with over 30 years of experience practicing corporate commercial law in British Columbia. Ms. Andreone works in risk management and corporate governance, and serves on a variety of boards including the Vancouver Foundation, and is a past Director for the Law Society of British Columbia.

“On behalf of our staff, I congratulate and welcome Rita,” said Shaun Stevenson, President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority. “Her experience in corporate governance will be an invaluable addition to our governance team as the port continues to realize its vision of strategic growth and diversification.”

Ms. Andreone replaces Board member Bruce Hallsor. Mr. Hallsor joined PRPA’s Board of Directors in February 2013 and served as the Audit Committee Chair. “We are grateful for Bruce’s contributions to PRPA’s Board of Directors, as he helped guide the organization through a remarkable period of growth and diversification,” said Stevenson.

The Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Board of Directors is comprised of seven people. Three of the Board members are appointed by each level of government—municipal, provincial, and federal—while the balance is nominated by the Minister of Transport in consultation with the Port User Nominating Committee. Board members are appointed for a term of no more than 3 years with a maximum tenure of 3 terms.
