New Director Appointed to Prince Rupert Port Authority Board


EFFECTIVE JUNE 10, 2026 

PRINCE RUPERT, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) announced today an addition to its Board of Directors. The Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport for the Government of Canada, has confirmed the appointment of Matthew Grant.

Mr. Grant is a senior energy professional and lawyer with experience in midstream commercial development new energy technologies and is the Director of Oil Sands Business Development and Low Carbon at Enbridge Inc. Mr. Grant has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Mount Allison University. Based in Calgary, he has served on several not-for-profit boards. His three-year term commenced June 2, 2026.

“On behalf of our organization, I am pleased to welcome Matthew Grant to the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Board of Directors,” said Kurt Slocombe, President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority. “Matthew offers a combination of legal, commercial, and board experience that will serve the organization as we continue to build on long-term strategic objectives.”

The Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Board of Directors is comprised of seven people. Three of the Board members are appointed directly each level of government—municipal, provincial, and federal—while the balance is appointed by the federal government in consultation with the Port User Nominating Committee. Board members are appointed for a term of no more than three years with a maximum tenure of three terms.
