Introduction to Info Source
Info Source describes the programs and activities, and the information holdings related to programs and activities, of government institutions subject to the Access to Information Act to facilitate the right of access. It also provides individuals, including current and former employees of the Government of Canada, with relevant information to access personal information about themselves held by government institutions subject to the Privacy Act and to exercise their rights under the Privacy Act.
An index of institutions that are subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act is available centrally.
The Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act assign overall responsibility to the President of Treasury Board (as the designated Minister) for the government-wide administration of the legislation.
General Information
Background
The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) is a local port authority constituted under the Canada Marine Act, and Letters Patent issued under the Act, to operate the Port in the Prince Rupert Harbour. We’re an autonomous and commercially viable agency, governed by an independent Board of Directors with full control over all Port decisions. Our mandate is to facilitate and expand the movement of cargo and passengers through the Port of Prince Rupert.

The Prince Rupert Port Authority is responsible for the overall planning, development, marketing, and management of the commercial port facilities within the Port of Prince Rupert. This includes ensuring competitive, efficient, and timely responses to customer needs and business opportunities. It also means ensuring that we facilitate these opportunities in a manner that is safe, responsible, and sustainable.

In accordance with the Canada Marine Act and Schedules A and B of its Letters Patent, Port Operations is responsible for performing all activities related to the operations of the port.

Classes of Personal Information
As part of its programs and activities, the Prince Rupert Port Authority may accumulate personal information that is not included in any of the personal information banks described above. These include requests for information, testimonies of public support, service offers and complaints. This information is stored in general files where information is not normally retrievable by name or another personal identifier.
This form of personal information is normally only recoverable if certain details are given on the subject, the program activities related to it, and the date on which the information was received by the PRPA and the name of the person to whom it was addressed. The retention periods for these categories of personal information depend on the records disposal schedules for the general subject files in which they are stored.

Please note: Each request made to Prince Rupert Port Authority under the Access to Information Act must be accompanied by an application fee of $5.
