PRPA Provides $241,186 to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital through Rampage Fights Cancer Campaign

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 19, 2026

PRINCE RUPERT, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA), Rupert Rampage hockey team, and North Coast Health Improvement Society have partnered to purchase several pieces of essential equipment for Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. These investments were made possible through the record-breaking Rampage Fights Cancer campaign, which PRPA’s Community Investment Fund supports as key sponsor.

Matching community donations to the 2024-2025 Rampage Fights Cancer campaign, PRPA’s Community Investment Fund committed $241,186 to acquire equipment that is crucial to diagnose, treat, and manage conditions connected to the urinary system and male reproductive organs, including cancer and non-cancer related procedures. This major investment enhances access to specialized services for local patients and reduces the stress and burden of travelling outside northwest BC for urological care.

PRPA is also announcing that it will contribute funds to this year’s Rampage Fights Cancer campaign to support the purchase of a new Endoscopy Tower that will improve early detection of gastrointestinal and bladder diseases, including cancers. The advanced equipment will replace an 11-year-old system and help to streamline workflow, enhance patient safety, and increase efficiency for physicians. The integration of new AI-assisted tools will also aid physicians in detecting anomalies, improving clinical outcomes.

“Our Community Investment Fund remains committed to supporting projects that deliver reliable and efficient healthcare for residents and help draw skilled medical professionals to the North Coast,” said Kurt Slocombe, Interim President, Prince Rupert Port Authority. “We commend the individuals and local businesses who are part of this powerful homegrown movement, setting a new bar for healthcare fundraising in our community.”

“We sincerely thank our team’s title sponsor, the Prince Rupert Port Authority, for continuing to step up as the key contributor to the Rampage Fights Cancer campaign, bolstering the community’s remarkable generosity towards improving access to cancer care in Prince Rupert,” said Travis McNeice, Rupert Rampage Team President.

“These vital investments in modernized equipment will enhance diagnostics and treatment for hundreds of patients from Prince Rupert and surrounding communities each year, alleviating the need to travel elsewhere for their care,” said Stefan Delloch, North Coast Health Improvement Society President.

Since the creation of the Community Investment Fund in 2010, PRPA has committed nearly $1.3 million to healthcare projects in Prince Rupert, including:
