Field Services Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manger, IT, the Field Services Technician (Security Infrastructure) is responsible for installing and servicing security cameras and related equipment, card access security infrastructure, and wireless networking hardware.

In addition, the incumbent provides support in maintenance of the security and business networks as well as providing coverage for help desk issues, servicing computer hardware components and peripherals, maintenance of desktop computers and laptops, and, where possible, any networking issues.

MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Inventories and creates maintenance records on all security hardware assets.
  2. Installs new security equipment, ensuring all PRPA best practices are followed for proper weatherproofing and documentation.
  3. Continually monitors, maintains, and services all port security cameras and systems.
  4. Works with the Manager, IT and Director, Gateway Operations and Planning to plan future security projects.
  5. Working with the IT Department team, provides frontline help desk support using helpdesk tools to track and document client problems, requests, and the actions performed.
  6. Answers client calls and replies to client emails and voicemails.
  7. Provides office coverage for the IT Operations Administrator as required, or any other duties assigned by the Manager, IT.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works in the office but mostly in the field. Field work may involve working in adverse weather conditions and at high altitudes (on ladders and in bucket trucks).
  • Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Regular working hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with 1 hour lunch break (unpaid).
  • A reasonable amount of IT support work outside working hours will be required from time to time.
  • On call after office hours and on a weekly rotating or periodic basis.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Formal Education

  • CompTIA A+ and Comp TIA Network+ or equivalents.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or related equivalent.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or related equivalent.
  • A recognized certificate/diploma as an Electronics Technician is an asset.
  • Air Brake Ticket is an asset.

Related Experience

  • One to three years’ related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems.
  • Experience with repairing small electronic systems.
  • Extensive experience using small hand and power tools.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President, Public Affairs & Sustainability, the Administrative Assistant provides executive assistant functions and administrative support for the department.

MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Maintains the Department’s office records management system and coordinates the organization of the Department’s records.
  2. Maintains a department administrative tracking system for expense claims, business travel, and staff schedules.
  3. Coordinates accommodating visiting delegations to the Port of Prince Rupert, including supporting itinerary development and travel logistics for the department.
  4. Coordinates business meetings, luncheons and other special functions.
  5. Supports the Public Affairs and Sustainability Department travel needs.  Schedules hotel/flight accommodations & procures necessary documentation such as registration, passport and payment process all expense reports.
  6. Provides support services (including coordinating management reporting, budget reporting, coordinating conference and video conference calls, coordinating and scheduling meetings and composing a record of meeting deliberations etc.)  in support of department activities.
  7. Supports coordination of public affairs programs including community information forums, requests for donations and community investment fund applications, and other public engagement initiatives.
  8. Ensures that the department’s Customer Relationship Management database is updated to track communication and engagement with key stakeholders.
  9. Responsible as point of contact for Public Affairs and Sustainability Department in responding to information requests and directing queries to appropriate program leads.
  10. Provides administrative support (including preparing correspondences and undertaking research assignments) to all staff in the Department.
  11. Participates in community and public engagement initiatives and events as a member of the Public Affairs team, as required.
  12. Serves as a host at the Port Interpretive Centre, welcoming visitors and answering inquiries related to the port and community, as required.
  13. Provides administrative support to other departments, as required.
  14. Performs other executive assistant functions as directed by the Vice President.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works predominately in an office environment.
  • Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Regular working hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with 1 hour lunch break (unpaid).
  • Working hours may be varied at times to meet operational needs.
