Internal Communications Associate
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Internal Communications Associate assists with the Port’s internal communications. This role helps support an inclusive and equitable environment by defining and expressing the organization’s voice, creating, and supporting opportunities for staff engagement, and developing content for different platforms and internal audiences, including internal news on a SharePoint intranet site, internal emails, employee meetings, presentations, publications for internal chat networks, etc. The position requires experience and passion for assisting with the development, design and implementation of strategic staff communication, content strategies, and expertise in creating a two-way communication flow and maximizing staff engagement.
MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develops, implements, maintains, and monitors all internal systems and processes to ensure that employee communications are planned, coordinated, and delivered effectively.
- Ensures PRPA’s internal communications objectives are met by supporting the planning and implementation of the internal communications strategy.
- Implements the internal communications strategy using the organization’s platforms including the internal website, town hall meetings, newsletters, staff events and presentations.
- Researches and leads the development of compelling content for the internal website, newsletters, presentations, brochures, and other port internal communication assets to increase employee engagement.
- Ensures all communications reach relevant internal stakeholders in a time-efficient manner.
- Coordinates the development and preparation of presentation materials.
- Assists with the organization, coordination, and execution of PRPA special events.
- Works closely with the human resources team and other key stakeholders to acquire content, information, and updates for staff awareness.
- Collaborates with different departments on the development and execution of communication messaging from various departments.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of integrated internal communications content calendar.
- Works with external suppliers to ensure communication products are produced and delivered according to set budgets and timelines.
- Coordinates with graphic designers, videographers, writers, and other communication agencies where necessary.
- Leverages measurement tools to provide KPI reports, analytics insights, while identifying ways to improve metrics through testing and new initiatives.
- Provides photography, videography for PRPA staff events.
- Assists with maintenance and management of the Digital Asset Management System and media monitoring service.
- General support for corporate communications team when needed and other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works predominantly in an office environment.
- Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Regular working hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with 1 hour lunch break (unpaid).
- Some work outside of regular office hours may be required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Formal Education
- Post-Secondary Diploma in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Commerce or Commercial Art and Design.
- An undergraduate degree is an asset.
Related Experience
Two (2) to three (3) years’ related work experience.
Other Requirements
- Experience in a role responsible for supporting internal communications at a corporate level for audiences of 100+ employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including editing.
- Demonstrated experience in photography, photo editing and video production.
- Solid time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle multiple and sometimes competing priorities simultaneously. Highly organized and detail orientated.
- Must be willing to learn, a team player and deadline driven.
- Strong proficiency using a suite of applications; including Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel; Proficiency with graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop would be an asset.
- Knowledge and experience working with of social media accounts, platform management and digital marketing tools, in particular Meltwater, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and content management systems and processes.
- Recommends, establishes and helps to maintain the integrity of the organization’s communications standards. Collaborates, supports and shares experience and best practices with communications team and department members.
- Contributes positively and enthusiastically to the goals of the organization and the communications team.
- Adept at collection and use of statistical data.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Creative and intuitive thinker, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as be a valuable team player.
- Videography and post-production editing skills are an asset.
- Possess valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved by Health Canada.
- Able to obtain security clearance under Transport Canada’s Security Clearance Program.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Property Administrator
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Real Estate Manager, the Property Administrator oversees PRPA’s diverse real estate portfolio, including property and tenant management, to provide effective real estate support to internal and external stakeholders on commercial, retail, and industrial property matters. The Real Estate business unit manages a dynamic portfolio which helps to shape and support the ongoing growth and development of the Port of Prince Rupert.
MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manages PRPA’s property and tenant management system, by collecting, inputting, tracking, and preparing reports to maintain accurate and up-to-date corporate lease, property, and property tax data.
- Oversees the day-to-day coordination with tenants and PRPA staff, fostering and maintaining collaborative working relations to ensure compliance with lease provisions, maintenance, construction, and other lease matters.
- Assists the Manager with the administration of PRPA’s real estate assets, providing information and guidance to the staff, consultants, and interdisciplinary internal and external stakeholders.

Manager, Environmental Review & Compliance
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, Environmental Planning and Compliance, the Manager, Environmental Review & Compliance has a fundamental role in ensuring the highest standards of environmental protection in the Port’s development and operations. In addition to project reviews and environmental compliance, the role is instrumental in delivering exciting projects with habitat restoration and enhancement as well as leading scientific studies and initiatives for the protection of species at risk. This role provides meaningful opportunities to directly influence the planning and delivery of major developments and the operations of a high-performance Canadian Port. The position also includes opportunities for consulting with Indigenous Communities, the Public, and key stakeholders as part of environmental planning processes.
MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversees development and implementation of Environmental Management Plans for project developments within the Port of Prince Rupert.
- Manages compliance with permits, authorizations and determinations issued under the Fisheries Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Species at Risk Act and Impact Assessment Act.
- Leads environmental effects evaluations for Port Projects.
- Liaises with project proponents, contractors and Port partners and tenants in addressing environmental deficiencies, concerns, and lease/approval performance during planning, construction and operations.
- Ensures that project documentation and monitoring/compliance activities are maintained.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary teams with other Port staff in reviewing and supporting Port developments.
